Join us to Create Better Systems of Service Delivery for Older Adults!

The Eldercare Development Partnership (EDP) is established in the MN Legislation under Statute 256B.0917 Home and Community Based Services for Older Adults.

EDP is a multi-year strategy adopted by Minnesota in 1990 to prepare the state’s long term care system to deal with the needs of a growing older population.

GOALS:

  • Develop a local long-term service and support strategy consistent with state goals and objectives
  • Make strategic changes to enhance the long-term services and support systems for older adults
  • Provide statewide scope for local service development and technical assistance
  • Identify, utilize, and build local skills, knowledge, and relationships

EDP Staff

EDP staff work with service providers, local governments, and other partners to explore and develop innovative programs, system changes, efficiencies or utilize technology and informal resources to meet the growing and changing needs of the long-term care system.  We achieve these goals by building regional capacity for local service development.
Our EDP Team provides technical assistance for agencies and community collaborations who are seeking funding to support their services and strategies including Minnesota Department of Human Services and Minnesota Board on Aging Grant Funds.

Age Friendly Arrowhead

The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging (AAAA) is a leader in developing an Age Friendly Arrowhead. Age Friendly Minnesota is a statewide policy to promote healthy aging, requires engaging with older adults as contributors to the social, economic and civic fabric of our communities, encouraging physical and psychological health and well-being. For more information on these presentations, please visit our Age Friendly Arrowhead webpage.

Health Care Education Camps

The AAAA co-coordinates successful healthcare education camps with Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College (FDLTCC) and JET (formerly the NE MN Office of Job Training). Each camp is hosted by a regional college campus, Minnesota North – Hibbing and FDLTCC. Students spend two nights in the college dorms meeting others from across the region and participating in service projects benefiting our communities and learning about local challenges.

Campers experience hands-on career sessions focused on a variety of fields including Dentistry, Acupuncture, Nursing Assistant, Nursing, EMS, Mental Health, Pharmacy, Medical Lab Technician, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiology Tech, Surgical Tech, CNA vs MA, Respiratory Therapy, and more. Additionally, camp programming includes field trips to RSI Westbrook Equine Therapy Farm, the UMD School of Medicine, and UMD College of Pharmacy.
